Marxian economics have failed miserably, and Capitalism is already at its wit's end. All human theories of economic utopia are going down the drains. In the very first pages of Genesis, we are given the cultural mandate in which man was commanded to multiply, and to exercise dominion over the earth. In that mandate man was invited to be a co-creator with God - utilizing the raw materials given to him in the created world and inventing goods and services that reflect the characters of God - to the ultimate glory of God. We see similar themes in the New Testament, in which man is entrusted with talents and gifts, but also accountable for its multiplication. Man is thus accountable for Oikonomia (mostly translated into "Stewardship," but also the very word for Economics). How, then, do you do economics for the glory of God? |

In today's world, psychology is gaining notoriety for being a very effective branch of science. Its effects are felt daily, especially in the world of marketing and advertising, where psychology is used to manufacture desire. But psychology should never have been categorized as a field of science; for a very simple reason: There has been no psychologist who have been able to locate the human SOUL (Psyche), the very object of the study of psychology. So, if psychology cannot even locate the human soul, how is it going to do a controlled test in order to reaffirm the various hypotheses it puts forward? And if it cannot conduct such verifiable experiments, how can it be categorized as being scientific? Yet, we also must consider the apparent effectiveness psychology has displayed; especially in predicting behavior. This article attempts to look at these topics, and how Christianity should respond. |

Science and religion have always been depicted as mortal enemies. Some of these atheistic scientists have often mocked Christians with naïveté and gullibility. They claim superiority of knowledge because they believe in "facts" that have been ascertained in the lab. But such impression- that scientists speak only facts that are void of faith- is but mere myth. With Richard Dawkins' confession that he believed aliens seeded the earth, and Stephen Hawking's fear of a Terminator-like genocide; we should realize that they too speak are guilty of unverified faith. Many multi-million dollar experiments are initiated with theories that resemble nothing more than a science fiction movie. Search for alien intelligence, for one, is an experiment that is based on nothing more than premonition. How should the Christian person foster confidence when conversing with a passionate scientism? This article provides some of the principles with which we can build our solid apologia. |

Philosophy literally means the love of wisdom. But here's my take on the history of (western) philosophy. As a separate branch of study, western philosophy was heralded by Socrates, who pursued the progress of knowledge by admitting that his own knowledge was not absolute. The world of philosophy, however, proceeded with individuals claiming certainty of theories. This was especially true in the Modern era. However, with many subsequent failures, coupled with the negative consequences of modern knowledge that led to two massive world wars, man begins to think that his knowledge wasn't so absolute after all. And so we come to the post-modern era that believes in relativism, that nothing is absolute. But, aside from starting back at square one, the theory itself is an oxymoron. The louder one asserts that no knowledge is absolute, the louder he contradicts himself - because he is saying absolutely that nothing is absolute. Okay, that was a reductionist's version of the history of philosophy; but you get the jest. Philosophy is getting nowhere in proclaiming wisdom, because the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Without the fear of the Lord, as Paul explained, the wisdom of the wise will be frustrated. |

Politics is almost a vulgar word. We all know politics is dirty, and filled with dishonesty and scandals where the end justify the means. Most Christians know better than to enter into the world of politics. But the Christian message is also prevalently political in nature. It talks about the heralding of the Kingdom of God, and the reign and rule of Jesus Christ as its King. And Peter also explained how the supremacy of Christ also meant that we are to obey the corrupt earthly Government, as the servants of God sent to punish evil. Though the Government is utterly depraved, obedience is still required for a corrupt Government is still better than no Government at all. Herein, Peter was establishing a societal order. How should the Christian person interact with world politics? How do we understand issues on social justice? |

There is a very popular saying that "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder," which basically argues that aesthetics cannot be judged objectively. This argument sounds reasonable enough, except when we consider that SIN by nature is the misuse of things that are created to be good, pleasing and perfect. When Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, she ate it for reasons of aesthetics. When David fell into adultery, he did it because of beauty. Therefore, can we say that the essence of sin is exactly the wrong appreciation of beauty. This article, thus argues for both the objectivity and subjectivity of art - that creativity should flow out of conformity; and that innovation comes from understanding the rules. |
